Prop Newspaper Printing

We print prop newspapers for productions that need something specific on camera. You supply the artwork, we print it on real newsprint and wrap it around an existing newspaper. The actor picks up something that looks right and feels right.

How it works

Your art department designs the front and back pages. We print them as a single sheet on newsprint stock - the same lightweight paper used for actual newspapers. Fold it around a real paper and you've got authentic weight, authentic texture, and your custom content showing.

Full colour or black and white. Single copies or multiples for retakes and continuity.

Why this approach

Most commercial newspaper printers want minimum orders in the hundreds or thousands. That's fine if you're launching an actual publication, but not when props needs three copies for a scene.

We print from one copy upwards. Two for the hero shot, a few spares for continuity, whatever you actually need. No minimum order.

Aged and vintage effects

If your scene is set in the past or the newspaper has been sitting in a drawer for decades, we can make it look that way. Before printing, we apply digital aging to your artwork:

• Yellowing and discolouration
• Foxing and age spots
• Water stains and tide marks
• Faded areas
• Simulated fold wear and creasing

The aging becomes part of the print. If you need physical distressing as well - actual creases, tea staining, burned edges - that's something your props department would do after delivery.

Sizes

We can print wrap sheets up to 500mm x 760mm, which covers tabloid and compact formats comfortably. For full broadsheets, we print front and back pages as a folded wrap rather than a full open spread - which is what's visible when someone holds a newspaper anyway.

Turnaround

Usually 24-48 hours once we have approved artwork. Same day is sometimes possible if you're stuck - call us.

What you need to supply

The finished artwork. We print what you send, we don't design newspaper content. PDF at 300dpi or high-resolution images. If you're not sure about dimensions or bleed, send what you have and we'll advise.
